Voting for the 2018 General Election took place from March 5 through March 7. Since that time, the ASGJ has worked quickly to address all eleven election complaints filed, review all candidates’ expenditure reports, and verify final vote totals and results. The following results have been reviewed and approved by a quorum of the ASGJ.

According to the 2018 General Election packet, candidates must receive a majority of all votes cast for that office. The majority threshold is fifty percent of all votes counted plus one. The final vote total is calculated by taking the number of votes cast, including votes for all candidates and the “Prefer Not to Respond” option, and subtracting any vote deduction penalties that may have been sanctioned as a part of a campaign violation. There were no vote deduction penalties in the 2018 General Election, so the majority threshold will be fifty percent of all votes cast plus one. As a reminder, President and Vice-President candidates ran together as one voting option. Treasurer and Secretary candidates were each separate voting options.

For the office of SECRETARY, there were 4,935 votes cast. The majority threshold needed to win election for this office is 2,468. There were 253 ballots cast for the “prefer not to respond” option.

Luke Humphrey received 2,416.

Josie Dubois received 2,266 votes.

As neither candidate reached the majority threshold needed to win the election, a run-off election will be held to elect the next ASG Secretary.

For the office of TREASURER, there were 4,933 votes cast. The majority threshold need to win election for this office is 2,467 votes. There were 293 ballots cast for the “prefer not to respond” option.

Marco Gargano received 2,150 votes.

Isamar Garcia received 2,490 votes.

Congratulations to your next ASG Treasurer, Isamar Garcia.

For the offices of PRESIDENT AND VICE-PRESIDENT, there were 4,933 votes cast. The majority threshold needed to win election for this office is 2,467. There were 162 ballots cast for the “prefer not to respond” option.

J.P. Gairhan and Abigail Walker received 2,384 votes.

Spencer Bone and Abby Sikes received 2,387 votes.

As neither voting option reached the majority threshold needed to win the election, a run-off election will be held to elect the next ASG President and Vice-President.

The following report was generated from Qualtrics, the university survey platform that online voting was hosted on. This report shows the vote totals for the executive election as well as select campus data for the election. Since there were not vote deduction penalties in this election, these vote totals stand as the final vote totals.
