Freshman Leadership Forum

Mission: To educate and engage freshmen in the process of shared governance at the University of Arkansas.

Vision: Freshman Leadership Forum members will develop leadership skills and increase awareness of diversity in order to effectively represent fellow students in the future. Freshman Leadership Forum members will learn the operations of ASG through interactive educational programming, serving in multiple roles within the organization, and intentional networking.

Personal Development

  • Bi-weekly meetings with emphasis in leadership development and diversity training.
  • Fall and spring Freshman Leadership Forum retreats.
  • Service projects on the University of Arkansas campus and in the community.
  • Presentations from various campus offices such as the Career Development Center, the Study Abroad Office, and the Volunteer Action Center.
  • University of Arkansas administration guest speakers.

ASG Education

  • Freshman Leadership Forum members will learn the structure of ASG, as well as meet current elected and appointed officers.
  • Participate in a Senate simulation to learn Parliamentary Procedure and how to write a bill.
  • Participate in a campaign and ASG Judicial simulation to learn election guidelines and procedures.
  • Serve two (2) office hours per week during the fall and spring semesters at the front desk of the ASG office to gain an understanding of the operations of ASG.
  • Serve on a Cabinet or Senate committee for the fall semester to obtain experience in a specific area of ASG. Serve on a different committee in the spring semester to get another perspective.

Networking

  • Small Group – Groups of 8 Freshman Leadership Forum members per small group.
  • Mentor – Each member will have an upperclassmen mentor who is currently serving in an elected or appointed position in ASG.
  • Freshman Leadership Forum Fellow – partnered with another Freshman Leadership Forum member.
