March 05, 2018
Voting for the 2018 ASG General Elections begins at 9 a.m. Monday, March 5. Voting will conclude at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 7. Students can vote at asg.uark.edu/elections or by paper ballot in the Office of Student Activities, Arkansas Union A665 during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) while voting is taking place.

All currently enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students are eligible to vote. Information about candidates is available at asg.uark.edu/elections. Ballots will be presented to students as follows:

  • All students are eligible to vote for ASG President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer,
  • Undergraduate students will be eligible to vote in the ASG Senate election based on their primary college of enrollment.
  • Graduate and professional students will be eligible to vote for ASG Executive Offices but not Senate seats since ASG Senators represent undergraduate students. (Graduate and professional students will have the opportunity to vote for their legislative representation when the Graduate-Professional Student Congress holds its first election later this semester.)

The ASG General Election will ask students to vote for their student government President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Per the ASG election rules, candidates for President and Vice President run together as a single voting option while candidates for Secretary and Treasurer run separately, even if they are on the same ticket. This means that voters will have three decisions to make when voting for ASG Executives:

  1. ASG President and Vice President – On one ticket, student leaders Spencer Bone and Abby Sikes are running for President and Vice President together. The other ticket running for President and Vice President features J.P. Gairhan and Abigail Walker running together.
  2. ASG Secretary – Student leaders Luke Humphrey and Josie DuBois are running for ASG Secretary.
  3. ASG Treasurer – Isamar (Izzy) Garcia and Marco A. Gargano are the student leaders running for ASG Treasurer.

The Senate portion of the election will be a college-based election. Candidates for Senate are organized by their primary college of enrollment and only students enrolled in that college will be able to vote for those candidates. Seats in the 2018-2019 ASG Senate are allocated based on the total student enrollment this semester in each of the colleges. In this election some colleges have more seats than candidates. Unfilled seats will be filled in the Fall 2018 Senate Vacancy Election. Also of note for this election is that the College of Architecture fielded no candidates for Senate.

The seats available in each college and Senate candidates for those seats are as follows:
