Office of Financial Affairs (OFA) – University of Arkansas

Empowering RSOs Through Student Activity Fee Funding

The Office of Financial Affairs (OFA) provides Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) with access to Student Activity Fee funding, allocated through the Associated Student Government (ASG).

This funding helps RSOs host impactful events, attend conferences and competitions, and manage administrative costs—enhancing student engagement and campus life.

The OFA Board, led by the ASG Treasurer, meets weekly to review funding requests. All RSOs are encouraged to apply!

Submission Restrictions

📌 Only the President or Treasurer of an RSO may submit funding requests.

  • Applications submitted by any other member of the RSO will not be considered.

📌 OFA does NOT fund reimbursements.

  • All funding must be requested and approved BEFORE the expense is incurred.
  • If an RSO or student pays for an expense out-of-pocket before receiving OFA approval, they will NOT be reimbursed.

How Do the Deadlines Work?

📌 All OFA funding applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the date of the event or the registration deadline.

  • 4 weeks = 28 days before the event or payment due date.
  • University holidays do not count toward the 4-week requirement.

How to Determine Your Submission Deadline:

✅ Find the date of your event or the registration fee due date.
✅ Count backward 28 days (excluding university holidays).
✅ Your application must be submitted before this deadline for it to be considered.

Example Including a University Holiday:

📌 Your conference registration fee is due on March 28.

  • Normally, you would need to submit your application by February 29 (28 days before).
  • However, if Spring Break (March 18-22) falls within this period, those days do not count toward your 4-week window.
  • You would need to submit your application even earlier, by February 23, to account for the university holiday.

Important Notes on Late Applications:

If you miss the 4-week deadline, your funding request will NOT be reviewed.
❌ Weekends count, but university holidays do NOT.

What Types of Expenses Are NOT Covered?

OFA funding CANNOT be used for the following:
🚫 Expenses that do not align with ASG and OFA policies.
🚫 Any requests submitted after the 4-week deadline.
🚫 Expenses that violate university regulations.
🚫 Reimbursements for previously incurred expenses.

📌 For specific exclusions, refer to the OFA Standing Rules or contact the ASG Treasurer before submitting your application.
