Health Week is an annual event that ASG holds and its purpose is to promote health resources on campus as well as providing the student body with education about various health topics.  This year’s Health Week will take place the week of October 24th.

On Monday, October 24th there will be a Healthy Campus Living Panel from 5:00pm – 6:00pm in Giffels Auditorium located in Old Main.  The three panelists are representatives from UREC, Chartwells, and CAPS.  They will speak about how to incorporate exercise into a busy college schedule, navigate eating healthfully on campus, and maintain a good relationship with roommates, respectively.

ASG has partnered with University Programs to host a screening of Perks of Being a Wallflower on Tuesday, October 25th,  in order to increase awareness about mental health issues and overcome the stigma associated with them.  This event will take place in the UP Theater in the Union starting at 6:30pm.

On Wednesday, October 26th our Paws and Unwind Event will take place.  A local animal shelter is bringing a few dogs for students to interact with in order to destress.  Some representatives from CAPS will be there as well to provide students with information concerning techniques that can be used to destress and the importance of stress management.  This event will take place from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on the Union Mall.

The Health Fair will be on Thursday, October 27th.  Various RSOs and campus resources such as the Student Nurses Association (SNA), Pat Walker Medical Center, and CAPS will have booths at the fair.  SNA will be doing basic health screenings including blood pressure, BMI, etc.  There will be games and prizes.  This event will take place from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on the Union Mall.

Two events will be held on Friday, October 28th.  A sunrise yoga session will take place at 6:30 am on the Old Main Lawn.  We have partnered with Pat Walker Health Center to host an event called Stick-n-Treat that Friday as well.  Stick-n-Treat is a Halloween themed flu vaccination drive.  There will be candy and prizes at this event which will take place from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm.  There will be booths at the Union and at the intersection of Garland and Maple directing students to the Vaccination Clinic inside Pat Walker.

ASG’s Health Week serves the student body by making them aware of what health services they are able to access on campus and are covered by the fees they pay to attend the university.  It also helps provide students with the resources they need to live a healthier life during their time at the University of Arkansas.
