The application for Family of the Year is now open! Students interested in nominating their family as Family of the Year can fill out and submit their application online through HogSync. Applications must be submitted by noon on Monday, Aug. 28. Any University of Arkansas at Fayetteville student enrolled for Fall 2017 who meets co-curricular requirements is eligible to submit an family application. Also, this year for the first time, students can nominate their own family or another student’s family for Family of the Year.
The Associated Student Government (ASG) and Parent & Family Programs are proud to sponsor the Family of the Year. The Family of the Year represents the University as the model Razorback family. They are selected as the family who exemplifies the Arkansas spirit as well as the support that the family provides the student for success at the University.
“The Associated Student Government hopes that the winning family will feel appreciated and honored for their dedication to being an active part of the Razorback family,” said Natalie Counce, ASG vice president. “We designed the Family of the Year to honor outstanding families at the University of Arkansas’ Family Weekend for their efforts.”
The Family of the Year will receive four tickets to the Chancellor’s Box for the Arkansas Razorback football game versus New Mexico State on Saturday, Sept. 30, and will be honored on the field during the game. The family will also receive hotel accommodations and other benefits for their weekend. The University’s official “Family Weekend” falls on Sept. 29-Oct. 1. The family will also receive the PorkChop Package that includes Sunday Brunch, Cardinal Nights, Tailgate Brunch, Razorback gear and much more.
“ASG is proud to partner with New Student and Family Programs to present the Family of the Year Award,” said Michael McAllister, Assistant Director for Student Government Leadership. “When a student earns their name on Senior Walk we know that there was likely a supportive family presence that helped them get to graduation. To be able to recognize a current Razorback family making outstanding contributions to their student’s success is a great way to show appreciation for the role they played.”
